Sellier & Belloit M193 55gr FMJ - steel penetrator?
« on: November 20, 2010, 05:07:33 PM »
Went to Impact to sight in my new 18" SPR and was surprised the S&B was magnetic?  Does it have a steel penetrator? Why is it marked "M193"?

Might be a steel jacket. Ss109 and m855 are the penetrators. Try cutting it with side cutters. If you slice right through it's the jacket.

Copper coated steel jackets, not steel penetrators like M855.
Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but you can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

MGM owns five pieces of steel with multiple holes in it from last years Ironman caused by that round. Two guys were shooting it and at less than 100 yards it WILL go through AR 500.
