Hunter selling us out
« on: February 18, 2007, 10:14:41 AM »
Thought everyone should see this, since we are heavily involved with AR's.

http://www.outdoorlife.blogs.com/zumbo/      Assault rifles for Hunters.

What an idiot!

I didn't read all 1600+ replies but enough to see that he is being soundly beaten up.  What a dick.  I hope Outdoor Life takes a hard look at him and his contributions.

Haha!! I was just going to post that!!

And he is getting soundly beaten up. I think only a handful even remotely agreed with him. And those mainly said they just did not care for the AR as a hunting platform.

As I posted to the blog, he's a fool. I cannot believe that a man in his position thinks that they will stop after banning our AR15's.

He just posted an apology but most people are telling him to stick it.  Freaking hillarious.

We have terminated all ties effective this evening! I cannot explain his comments as they are against our core values.

Too bad but we must stand together!

Pleasrapesd the word that remington has taken severe action

Yeah, and it's pretty damn easy to pick out most of the idiots posting that are from arfcom. They are posting in the blog in the same manner that they post in GD. Going on and on about "arfcom firestorms" and posting that stupid myspace link 30 or 40 times without checking to see if it's already been posted. Morons.

Well, his blog is down "for the time being."  So, Outdoor Life hasn't fired him.

Remington has fired him:

Remington to Sever Sponsorship Ties with Jim Zumbo

Madison, North Carolina ? As a result of comments made by Mr. Jim Zumbo in recent postings on his blog site, Remington Arms Company, Inc., has severed all sponsorship ties with Mr. Zumbo effective immediately. While Mr. Zumbo is entitled to his opinions and has the constitutional right to freely express those opinions, these comments are solely his, and do not reflect the views of Remington.

?Remington has spent tens of millions of dollars defending our Second Amendment rights to privately own and possess firearms and we will continue to vigorously fight to protect these rights,? commented Tommy Millner, Remington?s CEO and President. ?As hunters and shooters of all interest levels, we should strive to utilize this unfortunate occurrence to unite as a whole in support of our Second Amendment rights.?

We regret having to terminate our long-standing relationship with Mr. Zumbo, who is a well-respected writer and life-long hunter.

Yeah, it was quite the scene Sunday. I found the blog through a link posted on the Parma listserv and I just about blew a fuck'in head gasket when I read that!! Damn I was pissed!!

For someone as positioned in the industry as he is, to even remotely think that they will leave his precious hunting rifles alone after banning our AR15s, is just unbelievable. If I was a tinfoil hat wearing kind of guy I'd swear Feinstein and/or Brady had started paying him "under the table".

Idiot.

You guys remember that Gerber knives, and Cabelas are going to continue to support him.

I knew Gerber was (damnit) but Cabelas too?  That just sucks.  Have to vote with the wallet since that's all we have that matters.

Looks like it will be "JOB hunting with Jim Zumbo"

Cabella's and Remmington are the two biggest ones to drop him...

Gereber, Swavorski, and stoney point are his only sponsors left...
Everyone else has pulled out and his show is off the air ;D

Well he definitely stepped on his dick.  Hope he enjoys his retirement because he definitely isn't going to be able to do anymore gun writing for a LONG time.

That SUCKS!!! I just ordered a years subscription to OutDoor Life just for his articles. As you may know I'm not a big hunter, but I found his write-ups to be very interesting. To each his own. But, that had to be one of the dumbest articles ever written by a Pro-Gun Guy. If he would of left it with just the first half of the piece, then I would say that's his opinion; but the rest of it was just to stupid for words.     :-[
