So I am starting to get into reloading slowly and wanted to get some opinions from you seasoned re loaders on what powder you were using for 9mm loads. The rounds will be for target shooting and general plinking, nothing fancy. More than likely plane jane 115gr FMJ bullets.
Let's hear what the general concensus is....

I use Titegroup and Bullseye for my target and practice .45 ACP loads and I believe a lot of the guys are using the same for their 9mm loads. I'll give you some to try if you want before you commit to buy for some sample loads

I use bullseye. I used hs6 for a while and it was pretty good. Bullseye has a few atvatages IMO. It's old-lots of load data out there. And it is easy to find, it's always been n stock when I looked for it.
I havnt tried a whole lot of powders for 9mm however

Thanks for the input guys, I'll be honest though, I'm not sure what would even make a "good" powder. What should I look for in powder? The only real parameters I have come up with is being able to get it locally Thanks J Mack, I may take you up on that offer.

My vote is Titegroup - buy it in 8lb bulk. $104 through Powder Valley http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/Even with hazmat that's only $124 and will go a long ways. That and a lot of guys at the club load with it, so data is easy to come by, from wussy loads to real man loads for shooting steel at 50 yards.

HP-38 or Winchester 231. Very similar powders but I think the HP-38 is cheaper.

I like Bullseye. It meters well through my powder funnel and burns clean. It's also burns a little faster than some other powders so that you don't have to use as much per charge making it a bit more economical.

The only real parameters I have come up with is being able to get it locally I asked this group a similar question, I opted for Unique based mostly on my lack of experience. Its been around forever, and is in most load data and the kicker for me was it takes up more volume in the case so its much more difficult to double charge. Later when I am more comfortable I may change to something else to get more "bang" for the buck, but for right now I feel comfortable loading because I can easily see the volume in the case as I seat the bullet. (Not sure your experience level)

In case anyone is interested in 9mm carbine loads, I found Blue Dot worked best for me for accuracy and velocity.

I like WSF and WST. Super clean, no smoke, great for low volume loads, meters easily. Not a ton of reloading data, though. But it works well in my 9mm lead and fmj 124 grain, and the 130 poly coated Black Bullets International bullet.

I have used Blue Dot and WSF. I found them more consistent in heavier bullets/loads.

Be careful with the titegroup in the .40. Particularly with heavy bullets and anything near the upper end of the velocity range. Something in the aa5'ish and slower range is safer. BUT, NOT AA5...

I use PowerPistol for 9mm, 10mm, and .45 ACP. It's very accurate, clean, priced right, and fills the cases enough to not allow double charges. I shot 5,000 rounds of 9mm loaded with PP this summer.
