« on: February 28, 2008, 05:39:11 PM »
Just came back from Walmart...

WTF... 100rd 9mm value packs are now $18.48???

Definitely looks like the .22's are going to get a lot of use this year!

yeah i was in 2-3 weeks ago and 9mm and .40 were the only things that didn't go up.

looks like it might be time to buy some 9mm dies.  it's only caliber i don't reload for.

I'll tell you what...I'll reload all of your pistol rounds if you reload my rifle rounds.  We'll supplie each other with the necessary components and I'll even give you two to one.  I'll reload two hundred rounds of pistol for every hundred rounds of rifle.  I hate reloading that stinkin rifle ammo....heck, I hate reloading period, but it is sort of a necessary evil!

An intriguing offer to say the least.  Right now I'm in a pretty serious cash crunch.  When things improve, I will look you up.

That sounds good.  I'll stand by to hear from you.  Just FYI, I put every round I reload through a case gage and I usually have about .5% failure rate (1 out of 200).  This isn't to say they wouldn't work in your gun just fine, it just won't go all the way down into the case gauge.  If we decide to do this deal, I will run still run everything through the gauge and separate any failures I have.
Adios,

Picked up some 223 at walmart last week, 200 rounds for 75 bucks, they are HP but they cycle through our M4s like butter. FMJ. even cycle on bumpfire (not something I do often but had to try with the new ammo) no problems.

Wow I remember when it was $12.49 for the box of 100 9mm...I'm still reloading on a RCBS single-stage you don't hear me complaining. If only I could find bullet heads less than 10 cents again. Last time I caught a deal right as it was posted on Gunbroker, 2000 rounds for $60.

If it's at Cabelas I would assume it's just the regular .223 Rem, they play too many games to sell people 5.56 NATO...

I looked for those today - 100 fmj, 115 grn.... the lowest I found was $23 for the Winchester white box.  The sale must have been short lived.  :(  I ended up buying at Walmart - same box/ammo for 20.

Hey I see alot of interest in the winchester white box. I know alot of people use this stuff, but I've just have horrible results. Bullet decay, primers not seated all the way, and then this:

Never been a big deal being my plinking ammo, but this could have been BAD. the jacket peeled over case(to find later after pulling the bullet the case was split underneath) and it jammed tight into the barrel. It chambered completely, it would have fired if I pulled the trigger; but was wedged tight in the barrel and took some force to get out. I only caught it because it sounded funny, luckly. just heads up.

Wow, that's ugly.  A good reminder to check all the rounds as I'm putting them in.  I've put thousands of WWB rounds down range and have only had a couple of minor problems.  Good catch from just hearing it!
