Didn't know where to post this.  Thought it interesting.  I'm sure anyone else would have been cuffed and stuffed.

What an idiot.  I'm sure he knows the rules about carrying while intoxicated.  He went to Notus H.S. and was a jerk back then.  He's 47 and at Dirty Little Roddy's riding a bull, drunk?  You can't fix stupid.

If that was one of us ..

We'd be fined, cited, cwp revoked, charged with trespassing.

Just to put thing into an often overlooked perspective:  In MANY (granted not all) cases, when John Q. Public gets charged with something and has to pay the piper, he pays the fine, maybe does some time in the gray-bar. Done.
When the cop does the same thing, and gets a similar sentence, in additon to the fine and time.................he loses his job. And the possibility to ever get another job in that profession. ( POST yanks the certificate.)
A simple speeding ticket, off-duty, in some agencies, CAN get a cop fired.
Pretend you work at a local store and get a speeding ticket on the way home. You pay the $85 (or $150 if you are really a leadfoot) and no one is the wiser (except maybe your insurance company and wife-hopefully not in that order).  You go to work the next day and whine about getting a ticket.
Now pretend you are an off duty cop and get the same ticket. In some agencies, you pay the ticket, and get fired the next day.
I am not passing any judgment on what the Ada County Deputy or the Emmett Officer did or didn't do. Or how any judgement was passed.

I'm just sayin'.

Not many, but I know for a fact one did. I was in-the-loop in that event, and there were no other factors. (No, I wasn't the deputy that wrote it!)
At the very least, in-house job-related things. Such as days off, loss of rank (= pay), letter of reprimand in their file, transfer to a crappy position, etc. Bottom line is, on many occasion, when a cop gets in "trouble", he gets it on both ends.
Most agencies cannot afford the TORT claims, law suits, complaints, media bashing (more so than usual on that one), etc, that a cop brings an agency when they goof up. They are usually dealt with with a "firm" stance. I have seen in the paper where a cop would get his name (and therefore eventually his agency's name) in the paper for something he did wrong. It finally comes out where he got a seemingly "slap-on-the-wrist", based on the general public's perception.  Because the matter was dealt with internally, what the paper won't mention is what he got from his agency. Such as the days off, loss of rank, etc.
Don't get me wrong, if a cop goofs up they get what's coming. I am NOT sticking up for them. I am just wanting people to consider what the ramifications are, looking at it from the other side.    That's all I'm saying.

We don't call them "AD's" (accidental discharge) anymore.  Lately the term has been adjusted to "ND's" (NEGLIGENT discharge").

Yeah, I've never understood the double standard.  A fireman can bust down your front door, fill your house with water, rake out every window and cut a hole through your roof. He's a hero.

too many locals bitching...

I realize this has been partially hijacked, but ........it doesn't make any sense.  (The Robinson Road speed thing)  The locals bitched about all the speeders. They call in constantly about everyone going too fast (it was a 35 mph zone). We spend a bunch of time there writing tickets-with absolutely no shortage of clients. Over the years, the traffic and sheer number of people living around there has increased a bunch.
So, in someone's infinite wisdom, they RAISE the speed limit to 45 mph, and we're still writing tickets for 20 over.
Now, the locals are calling asking why in the hell did it get raised in the first place.

Ok, temporary thread hijack is complete. Resume normal traffic.
I just heard the cop in Emmett officially resigned.
