 A real test of the arts.. and you need to shoot well..
pistol and rifle and long range bring your 4 wheelers
targets are on the move...yes on the move.....FUN ahead.

Here's the description so far:

Date: March 8
Location: Parma Rod and Gun Club
Time: 8:00am (I think)

Event will include rifle, pistol, shotgun, DM rifle and possibly a section using
4 Heavy barreled Israeli Fals that the teams will use to engage a specific
target set. If we do that the range fee may go up five bucks to cover the cost
of the 80 rounds the team will get to engage the targets.
 
Fee is per person. It will be a COF using ATV's or other similar
type vehicles for most of the COF. Four man team. We are considering
limiting the number of teams so folks need to make a commitment now.
 
This will be a target rich environment.
 
Its the patrol shoot and shooters should know...........brings lots of ammo.

Further updates for Patrol Shoot...

Regarding the upcoming Patrol shoot.

Sign up is 0830 to 0930.

Entry fee is $20.00 and you bring 10 rounds of .308
or $25.00 and we will supply you 10 rounds of .308.
The .308 will be fired thru a supplied HB Israeli Fal
during the COF. If your ammo blows up one of the supplied
Heavy barreled FALs, you get to buy the gun, and you do not
want to know how much these guns are worth today.

Round count:

Rifle 150
Pistol 50
Shotgun, Bird 25
SG Slug 10
Buck 6
SDMR ammo 30

This is a four man team event. All shooters need the weapons
noted above. IN ADDITION TO THESE WEAPONS THE TEAM WILL NEED
A SQUAD DESIGNATED RIFLE. Only one team member will fire that
rifle when the team gets to a certain point in the COF. That
weapon will travel with the team until needed.

Bring a double load as we may get to run the event twice.

On the rifle, iron sights or red dots with no magnification.
Scopes are not allowed except on the SDMR.

COF will start with HG and SG. At a certain point the SG will be
discarded to a rack and the rifles picked up. At that point the team
will engage a series of rifle targets and then mount ATV's or some
other vehicle or a combination of such and proceed thru the COF using
supplied Intel to get from FP to FP. Team leader will designate a person
to run a GPS system to be used in acquiring certain Intel as you go
thru the COF. If the wrong Intel is gathered the TEAM will have 120 seconds
added to their final time.

Scoring will be based on targets left standing and in a couple of cases
number of hits on paper times a point value of -10 seconds per hit and time.
Targets left standing will be a time penalty of +10 seconds.

No mags can be left behind. All gear has to be carried on the shooter.

Reloads behind cover, one knee grounded if not moving or made while moving
to cover.

Team will designate a team leader.

COF will cover a large portion of the range, and of the Conex pit area.

There will be no shooting from the vehicles, they are for transport only.

There will be no racing of the ATVs or other off road vehicles.

Other rules may be applied as we complete the COF set up on Friday. Or as
may
be deemed necessary.

Time ends when the entire team crosses the end line.

It was a hard choice, BUT the band gig pays $ for the weekend, and that is my play money for purchasing new toys.

So while I'll miss a great time at the patrol shoot, I'll be making a little dough towards my addiction. And believe me, my wife know's it's an addiction.

Besides, Bend has a 1000 yard range that I'm going to try out on Saturday during my off time. 

X2... hmm, then I'd have to get a shotshell reloader, I'm going to need a bigger bench

If anybody that is planning on attending or participating in this patrol shoot owns a digital recorder take some video and post it here so the rest of us can see what's up.  Sounds like fun, but I've got too much home work to attend besides the fact that I don't own an ATV.

You don't need to own a 4 wheeler, they will make them available... those are just excuses. The Patrol shoot is the most fun you can have with your cloths on, the excitement of combat without a bad guy shooting back at you.

You will not regret spending a few hours at the range on Sat morning...

I'm sure I wouldn't regret it....until Monday AM when I have my first test of the semester and I realize that a few hours at the range turned into all day BSing with everybody and I blew off the little bit of study time that I had.  There will be a time, I have no doubt, but this isn't it.  That is way cool that people are willing to let other less fortunate shooters play with their motorized toys.  Someday I will be there.

Nomad, went ahead and bought me a Rem 1100. But I soooo appreciate the fact that you were going to let me use the 870. I figured what the hell, shotguns are starting to show up more and more at the meets, might as well just get one. Was just going to get me a Mossberg 590 (500?  ), but Jeff and Ryan at Impact talked me into the 1100........fuckers!!

Haha, just joking about them. As soon as I got into the pickup I was glad I got the auto instead of a pump. When you shoot like I do, you need all the firepower you can get!!

M'ER-F'ER

wolf striker spring KO'ed my G19, never lit off a single round.

I had done some last minute tweeking to the blaster & thought I had radiused the firing pin safety too much.



but at the same time I reinstalled a lighter striker spring that had given light strikes in the past...maybe 1 in 100 with WWB ammo.   

Trying to confirm the failure, I noticed a very faint dimple on the round(s) I TRIED to fire today   so these CCIs must be quite a bit harder.  I won't be using this 4lb striker spring if anybody wants to try it.  BTW I went ahead & did order that connector for you RG. I needed some mags & an actual range bag anyway.

But enough about me.

Patrol shoot...The match directors (Goodfellows & others) get bonus points for ATV usage as part of the course, along with the FAL/M14 stage.  Target rich, Fun laden.  Bruce took video of the squads, should be up on Parma eventually I suppose.



...well, just one last thing about me, this song is stuck in my head and I can't get it out.

 As usually a great shoot.. lots of fun and people to enjoy it with..
shooting at different targets iron sights and fuzzy front sights and the
smell of powder being burnt ...priceless..
 Thanks to all for a job well done by all and a clean up.. Looking toward
a challenging shoot in the near future.

8+ hours of studying paid off.  Got A's on both tests. Next time they have one of these shoots I volunteer to ride in the litter-I can get my studying done that way and still participate.
