don't overlook the 5.45x39  it does alot move dammage to steel than the .556 we were shooting and loaded ammo at half the price.  also the recoil curve is much smoother in semi and FA

She finally came today
I went with a dpms upper. i got it for about 500 from midway. 24in bull barrel came with a bolt/boltcarrier group and charging handle. Next step: buying a lower and convincing the wife ive had two rifles all along

i took it out to the range Friday afternoon, gorgeous day to go shooting. First time shooting since i moved Montana too. After spending about 30 minutes chasing my zero with my 55gr loads i finally got it dialed in. switching to my 75gr a-max loads was what impressed me. Though a variety of factors conspired against me (sleep, forgotten gear, dehydration), the rifle still managed to pull off what i was hoping for. after getting a few groups at 100 yards i started aiming at the 200 yard plate. slapped it about 10 times and got bored, 300 yard plate, same story, 500 yard plate, i never got bored of hearing the thwack of lead on steel. all told i managed to get about 200 rounds down range today.

my only real problem was about half my loads were to hot and i hated single feeding them.
